Three days of fun and climbing in the Yosemite of the East!  Come to PATC-MS's annual gathering at the Gunks for Labor Day weekend!

Late summer camping and climbing at the Gunks, one of the best places anywhere for beautiful, moderate traditional climbing.  Plenty of options for all ability levels.

The Club will help coordinate transportation and help out with any info people need on the area, climbing, or otherwise.

We'll rally at the EMS/Coffee Shop at the Rt 44/55 & Rt. 299 intersection (across from the Mountain Brauhaus) on Saturday morning at 0800 so that everyone can meet each other.

We'll also do a Saturday evening dinner at a local place in New Paltz (probably Bacchus), with the Club covering up to $250 of our total for the night.  Bring some small cash to help cover the overage.

The Shawangunks (aka the Gunks), New Paltz, NY.  It's about a 6 hour drive from the DC area.

Please note that the Gunks is a FEE AREA managed by the Mohonk Preserve. The fee is $17/day or purchase an annual membership for $95, which works out to 6 days of climbing to pay for it.

Camping is available at the AAC campground (~$28/night for a campsite of up to 4 for AAC members; ~$35/night for non-members), the NY State Multi-use Area (MUA - also free) and Creekview Campground down in Rosendale ( ~$10/night).

Other options are the hostel in New Paltz (I recommend this if not camping) and a few motels like Super 8. The Motel 87 is now closed.

The entire Labor Day weekend from Friday, Sep 4 to Monday, September 07.

Additional info:

-Please find your own climbing partner for the weekend.  The Listserv is a great place to post that you are looking for a partner if you don't have one lined up.

-You'll get a link to the Carpool sign-up list once you register.

-Only Club members will benefit from the partially covered Saturday night dinner.  Guests can obviously attend but must pay their checks separately.  Thanks!
