I am planning on purchasing an AT ski set up (skis, boots, bindings) for the upcoming winter season. I am trying to figure out the best way to go about buying gear and getting bindings mounted. I am leaning toward trying to get everything from one retailer that can provide mounting services as well. I am aware that Ski Center DC offers mounting services. REI also advertising mounting services. It seems that REI will have a larger selection and better prices. Ski Center DC may have better service, but smaller selection and higher prices. I would appreciate advice from anyone who has been down this road. What have been your experiences with ski sales/service at local REI stores or Ski Center DC? Are there other retailers within a couple hours drive of DC I should look at? Thanks!

The current ski sales on steepandcheap.com are pretty incredible. You might want to at least peruse what they have left. I just picked up two pairs of nice, lightweight backcountry carbon skis at over 60% off.

Thanks Joffrey. Where do you get the bindings mounted?

Now that bit I don't know! I'm heading out west soon, and will just get them mounted at a ski shop out there. Ski season isn't exactly imminent. :)
