During the May monthly meeting, the Mountaineering Section of the Potomac Appalachian Trail Club voted to make a donation to the Mohonk Preserve Organization in the amount of $500.00. The money is intended to help replace equipment from the areas rescue cache that was recently
vandalized and looted. The Preserve contains and manages the access
and preservation of the Shawangunk Ridge and surrounding area. The
mountaineering Section has been climbing at the "Gunks" since prior to
WWII.
On June 19th our Chairman Bob Graver met with representives of the Mohonk Preserve Organization at the Mohonk Visitor's Center to present the donation and express sincere thanks for the valuable service that they provide to the climbing community.
