2011 New Leader Day Report |
|
|
|
Despite the
slightly damp and chilly morning we had a good showing of folks at
SugarLoaf on Saturday morning. Ever one had a good time and learned lots
while being safe. We dropped 4 TR setups and 2 rappel lines at the
Boyscout area. We pretty much had the area to ourselves. We were able to
review all most all of the mock lead gear placements with the leader on
the route together.
Thanks go out to Ben for coordinating and to Annette, Scott and Mark for showing up early to setup, help out and teach.
Thanks
also should go out to all those who showed up and participants as you
made the trip and many help with the tear down and gear carry out!
Several folks g
ot in their first trad lead ever as well as many setup their first hanging belay station!
We
ending the day by heading to Roy's (the old climbers hang out in the
70s) and enjoy a few good drinks, good sandwiches and stories. I
would recommend heading to this place after climbing at Sugerloaf as the
food
is cheap and good. It may just take a while to pick the right
sandwich as they have so many so order an appetizer early so you have
time to read the whole menu.
