Club Programs
The PATC-MS comes together to offer numerous programs and events each year that encourage members to meet and climb socially as well as to further their climbing abilities.
  • Climbing Events  ( 7 items )
PATC-MS members gather frequently for annual and traditional climbing events.  These events offer members opportunities to gather at various climbing destinations, meet new and old partners to climb, and trade climbing stories and beta over drinks, food, and possibly the campfire after climbing.
  • Learning Programs  ( 5 items )
Although we are not a school or guide service, in keeping with the Mountaineering Section's mission "to train interested people in mountaineering techniques" the PATC-MS offers numerous opportunities throughout the year for climbers to share knowledge and learn from each other. In this way we follow in the tradition of mentorship by passing along the skills and techniques of mountaineering. These learning programs seek to provide opportunities for newer climbers to benefit from the experience and mentorship of more seasoned climbing veterans in the club.
  • Social Events  ( 2 items )
In addition to climbing and learning together our members frequently get together to socialize away from the crag and challenge ourselves to recognize each other when we're not wearing our harnesses and helmets. These social events offer climbers a great opportunity to meet, connect, and hopefully trade beta and form new climbing partnerships. Our social activities run the gamut from our monthly business meeting, to occasional happy hours and picnics, to our annual holiday party.
  • Community Service  ( 3 items )
Being passionate about climbing, Mountaineering Section members organize programs to give back to the local community. These programs often seek to improve the crags and areas at which we enjoy climbing. They also give our members the opportunity to use climbing as a vehicle for helping others.
  • Community Outreach  ( 2 items )
Our members enjoy numerous opportunities to share our love of climbing and the outdoor alpine environment with the greater Washington community.  Therefore we frequently organize and sponsor events which give climbers and non-climbers alike the opportunity to experience a taste of our sport.
  • Climbing Support  ( 2 items )
In order to encourage members to organize trips and to extend themselves and expand their climbing abilities, the club hosts several programs which help members meet their climbing goals.
