Ice climbing

When the fair weathered rock climbers put their racks in the attic for the season around the end of October, another group of PAT-C's awaken to do nothing but seek frozen water.

The numbers of ice climbers has grown over the years for this exciting winter sport. When the conditions are right, a number of relatively close ice sources are within easy drives: White Oak Canyon, Crabtree Falls and Reigalsville, PA. For FAT ice, a road trip to the Aidirondaks or flying to the White Mountains of New Hampshire makes for a nice long weekend trip. Pennsylvania offers a wonderful ice resource when the conditions are right.
