Trip Organizer Reimbursement Program

Program Inception: January 2011

The purpose of the program is to provide an incentive to the more experienced club members to make more trips available to the membership. All such trips are not guided trips and all participants will ultimately be responsible for their own safety at all times, just like on any other club trip. The trip organizer will simply be sharing their knowledge and experience with the other participants.

Any member in good standing of both the PATC-MS and the PATC can propose a trip for which they wish to be reimbursed for their expenses. The proposal shall be made to the EXCOM and the proposal shall have to have the support of the EXCOM to proceed. If accepted the trip organizer must then advertise the trip to club members and funds may be collected for the trip. All participants must be club members in good standing of both the PATC-MS and the PATC and meet minimum skill and experience levels set by the Trip Organizer. All funds collected in advance from trip participants shall be paid to the club and given to the club Treasurer. At the discretion of the trip organizer money collected from participants may be non refundable. After collection of the funds from the trip participants the Treasurer shall write one check to the Trip Organizer of an amount equal to (or less than at the Trip Organizer’s discretion) the amount of the funds collected for the trip. The Trip Organizer may request this either before or after the trip.

The trip organizer may wish to have all or a portion of the expenses of assistants reimbursed as well. This will be allowed as long as this is made known in the original proposal to the EXCOM and trip participants.

While it is the intention of this proposal to open up possibilities for all club members it will be up to the trip organizer to screen and select participants based on the participants service level to the club, seniority with the club, and skill and experience level.

Intent of these Programs PDF Print E-mail

The intent of the climbing support programs is to use the resources of the Mountaineering Section to provide members in good standing with financial assistance in meeting their climbing goals. In providing this assistance we hope to increase the club's pool of strong climbers and mentors.

In the case of most of these programs the recipient is expected to "pay it forward" and help other club members to benefit from their experience, whether via trip reports, open trips, or trip organization.
