The following article was scanned from CLIMBING MAGAZINE #263 JANUARY 2008? from page 114. The Conns are the founders of the Newsletter of the Mountaineering Section and togther they have left their marks on the climbing world across the courtry from Sea to Shining sea for over 60 years.

The 2nd edition of the Carderock guidebook went to print in June 2008 and soon afterwards I sent a courtesey copy to Herb and Jan Conn, who had contributed so much to rock climbing in our area, the Eastern seaboard and indeed the rest of the country over the years. The Conns are the founders of the UPROPE Newsletter and much of the Carderock guide was?steeped with a Conn-fluence.

Apaprently the first edition of the guide book was written with an error which Jan points out in a letter to me, which I hope you will enjoy.

I doubt?Herb and Jan Conn even have email as I suspect this letter was written on a very old typewritter, but holding it up to the light , I see no correction tape for typos!

I included the envelope for the hand stamped rock climber is filled in with a colored pencil and the return adress is also hand stamped. Jan made my day when I opened the envelope to find an assortment of rubber hand stamps with similar climbing themes!? So nice of her!
